Michael Langley Whitley, 50, of Alexandria, VA passed away on December 8, 2012. He was an avid sailor, car enthusiast, and gourmet cook. He enjoyed traveling the world, spending time with his family and friends living life to it's fullest. Michael graduated from The George Washington University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was preceded in death by his mother Millie. Survivors include his father Col. Arthur Langley Whitley; sister, Valerie Fischer; brother in law, Paul Fischer; two nephews, Ryan and Adam; and other loving relatives. A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Luke Catholic Church, 7001 Georgetown Pike, McLean, VA 22101 at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 21, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation www.jdrf.org

Mike was a talented, inventive person, who loved to share his great many passions with others. I'm sure Millie and my mother will sit him down to a gourmet meal in heaven. My heartfelt condolences to Valerie, Col. Whitley, and family.

Michael, Matt and I were so saddened to hear of your passing. We had lots of fun times with you at the Fischer household. You definitely enjoyed life and your family and friends. We are certain you are with your mother in heaven and no longer battling your pain.
